Our client, a public sector organisation, is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead their finance function and become a key part of their senior management team.

This is a broad, hands-on role that goes beyond the day-to-day numbers. You’ll have real autonomy, genuine influence over how things run, and the chance to lead improvement projects alongside your core finance responsibilities.

Benefits and details of the Finance Manager role:

• Working from home, with one day a week based in the Wilmslow office (fully office-based whilst training)
• Hours: 37 hours a week, with flexibility around core hours of 10am – 4pm and no fixed clocking in
• Salary: £56,000 salary, with progression through the pay band
• 26 days annual leave, rising to 31 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
• Option to buy up to 10 additional days annual leave a year

What will you be doing as the Finance Manager?

• Overseeing the finance team, with 3 direct reports
• Preparing finance reports, budget monitoring and forecasting
• Managing the accounting arrangements for a multi-million-pound budget and reserves
• Reviewing procurement and facilities spend to ensure best value for money
• Presenting finance reports, budget forecasts and funding recommendations at quarterly committee meetings, and answering financial questions from committee members
• Leading service improvement projects, identifying better ways of working
• Supporting information governance and data protection, with full training provided
• Supporting the wider team with day-to-day HR matters, with hands-on support from a dedicated HR lead, no prior HR experience is needed, just a willingness to learn

What do you need in order to be considered for the role of Finance Manager?

• A minimum of 5 years’ accountancy experience
• Previous managerial experience
• Experience setting and upholding strong financial controls
• Experience managing budgets and producing financial reports
