Synergy’s Charity Sports Day Raises £3,400
Back in July, we held our second fundraising event of the year… an adult’s sports day! It was our latest event to raise funds for our charity of the year, My Cheshire Without Abuse (MyCWA). Blessed on the day by uncharacteristically blue skies and enthusiastic teams made up of local businesses, together we raised an incredible £3,402.11!
Our Charity of the Year
For nearly 50 years My CWA has been providing vital support services to families who are impacted by domestic abuse in our local community. Earlier this year, their funding was cut completely by Cheshire East Council.
Without this funding many of their services, including an emergency helpline and crisis accommodation centres, were at immediate risk of closing. We knew we had to do our bit to help and got to work planning fundraising events for the year ahead.
The Day Itself
We invited local businesses to join us on 10th July for a morning of friendly competition at Macclesfield Rugby Club. Everyone arrived in good spirits, ready to relive their childhood glory days.
The fun began with teams taking each other on in a round robin tournament of activities including tug of war, discus throw and beanbag toss. Next up were the races, including the 50m sprint, egg and spoon and sack race. The final event – a team relay – rounded off the morning and determined the final standings.
It was a tight contest with just three points between first and second place, but Imperium Law Solicitors ultimately took the top spot. Followed closely by Mills Commercial Finance in second. BIP Candy & Toys claimed third place, despite competing with one fewer team member!
The morning was topped off with a well-earned BBQ in the sunshine and a charity raffle.
What’s Next?
This event brings our total raised so far for MyCWA this year to £3,964.11!
With more fundraising events already in the works, we’re determined to raise as much money as possible to ensure their services remain available to those who need them most.
And if you’re disappointed to have missed out on our Charity Sports Day, don’t worry as we’re planning on making it an annual event!
