Within this Desktop Support Engineer, there is no “1st Line/ 2nd Line/ 3rd Line” divide. The manager believes in training his staff in all areas which means as you develop, you’ll have the opportunity to gain in depth experience within the full IT Support remit. Have your finger in all the IT pies, so to speak!


All the senior members within the team have been with the business many years and have progressed through the ranks to the roles they’re in today. This is a great indicator of the fact that as the new Desktop Support Engineer, you will be working for a company that genuinely looks after their staff. You would join a team of 5, with a friendly and relaxed approach – they socialise as a team outside of work, too!


The company offer hybrid working, meaning you will be in the Macclesfield office for 3 days per week, and the other two days at home.

The role of Desktop Support Engineer is very varied. You will provide IT Support to approximately 500 employees across the UK and the US. Your main focus will be providing support on all MacOS – you will be the guru and lead on these queries.

Other areas of support will include Windows 10&7, Office 365, MS Teams & Skype for Business, HP Laptops & Desktops. You will also monitor the IT Inventory, handling upgrades when necessary. You will work on a rota between the hours of 8AM – 4PM and 10AM – 6PM.


In order to be successful for the position of Desktop Support Engineer you will need to have at least two years’ experience within an IT Support role, supporting MacOS. You will need to be comfortable communicating with people over the phone and via email. The rest can and will be trained!
